In week 4 I created multiple assets such as – glasses, plates, curtains, jars, heating radiator etc. I used these assets to populate my scene.
Wine glass with liquid
It was pretty straightforward to create the wine glass. I wasn’t sure how to make the liquid inside the glass. I did the liquid based on guide in Arnold documentation. I selected faces inside the glass and used duplicate function. I extruded the duplicated faces and bridged the faces to make a solid mesh. Lastly, I scaled down the mesh and reversed normals to get correct behaviour in rendering.

Curtains
The curtains were done using nCloth. First of all I created high poly plane. I set plane to be nCloth. I created a cylinder to hold the plane and I set it to be a passive collider. To make the plane be attached to the cylinder I used constraints – point to the surface. I animated the scale of the cylinder to simulate the movement of the curtains. I let simulate the nCloth for a few hundred frames. The final mesh looks like a curtain.

Other assets
Other assets I worked on were – plates, heating radiator, clock, wine bottle. All these assets were created using simple Maya modeling tools based on reference images.
