Week 2 – Iron Man helmet
During the second week, we were tracking head of person and replacing the head with Iron Man helmet.
Using the techniques from week 1 I had to first of all track the shot. I created multiple points across the shot and track the 2d points. When I got enough tracked points I created the camera solve. To make the camera solve more accurate I also calculated camera lens focal length and lens distortion.
Once I was happy with the matchmove of the shot I created another point set and a new camera. This second camera was used for the camera track of the head. I created multiple points across the head and calculated them. Calculating the points on the head was quite difficult because there weren’t many clear patterns that I could use for tracking. Once I had enough tracked points I let calculate the camera solve.

I imported the 3D model of the helmet into 3DE. I had to scale and transform the helmet to make it match the head. I selected the head point set and projected them onto the 3D model. I let calculate the camera solve again.
The 3D model of the helmet was sticking to the head quite well.
Finally, I exported the camera and points to Maya to make a render of the helmet.
This is the final render with the head replaced by the Iron Man helmet.
